Does the job but has one problem, 26 Aug 2011

Like other reviewers, I bought this for home brewing – I keep demijohns of wine in a tray of water heated by one of these. It’s a solution that means the crevices and hollows of this device don’t need careful cleaning as they don’t touch the wine.

According to my thermometer it’s doing a good job on keeping the water as a pretty consistent temperature, so full marks there.

The thing I have to mark it down for is the length of the cord supplied. It’s 80cm long. That might sound a lot but it’s awfully short when you get round to using it. If you were using it at the bottom an aquarium 40cm deep, that’d mean you’d need a socket right by the base of aquarium in order to use it. It simply doesn’t give you enough freedom of movement.

So, with that caveat, it is a pretty good tool and at the price it’s excellent value. Just look out for the position of your sockets before you buy it.

Works well – much cheaper than in the shops, 25 Jan 2012

Much cheaper than in pet shop. Not a well known brand. But at £8.99 its cheap and does the job. In my fish tank for 2 weeks and working well so far. Always have a separate thermometer in your tank to allow you to check the temperature of the water. As the temp. setting on the heater may not be all that accurate.
