This was purchased as a replacement for the same make and model which I have had for many years. So was already familiar with the product and how good it was. It can be installed partly in the ground and is therefore not totally visible. It is not easy to attached the outlet pipe when getting rid of the waste so tend to leave that attached. However it is necessary to leave this pipe in the pond as a small amount of water does drip from it. This is a good product and works well.

After purchasing the Fish Mate 15000 PUV Pressurised Pond Filter, my pond started to clear within two weeks. We can now see our four large Goldfish, and about 70 of their offsprings. This product has thumbs up as far as I am concerned.

It’s done a brilliant job – my pond is crystal clear!

Before you install this, take it all apart and get to understand the workings. Fairly simple really.
There are several sections to the filter plus a UV lamp in the central housing.
You’ll need to know your way around it, because the filters get very clogged up, especially at first and you’ll need to clean the filters by hand every few days. Fortunately you can clean them under the tap but it’s a messy job. (Not the bionic filter – rinse that in pond water only) Once your pond is cleared, the Powerclenz system keeps the filters flushed…..but a good hand-clean is still necessary every so often perhaps once every couple of weeks. (The Powerclenz obviously `wastes’ a fair bit of water – your pond will need topping-up after flushing the filter.)

If your pond is backed by a rockery, then that’s ideal. Make a recessed space in your rockery to take the filter – a paving slab makes a great base. Then lay the two pipes through the rockery – from the pump and the return into the pond. If you don’t have a rockery then the filter and pipes are going to be somewhat more visible.
Connect up via two circuit breakers (B & Q £9.99 each) and turn the system on.
Obviously you need a pump too – I’d bought an Aquamax Eco 3500 pump which was considered capable of handling enough flow to do the job properly – which it does.

My pond…. For the first few days, nothing seemed to happen – then I noticed that the water was a lot less green and I could see fish down to perhaps 15cms. I cleaned the filters….. A few days later the vision had improved and with successive filter cleanings over the next two weeks, the water became wonderfully clear. I now have a vibrant, interesting pond instead of a green, sludgy ditch!

It’s a bit fiddly to set up the right connections and due to the closeness of the pipes it’s awkward to tighten them thoroughly. And despite all the mod-cons, you’ll still need to use a couple of circlips (usually provided).
But once set up and running (as good as silent) you’ll feel that it was all worthwhile. A nice little status symbol too!
