Polaroid Optics 52mm Multi-Coated UV Protective Filter

  • UV Protective Filter: Prevents loss of sharpness and contrast by filtering out UV rays and Haze. Protects Lens from scratches, scuffs and smudges
Polaroid filters continue the brand's long legacy of superior optical solutions. All our filters are carefully formulated to ensure consistent color and accuracy throughout the entire surface of the glass. Why? Consistent color means consistent high quality results. We know that a poorly made filter makes a great lens and camera worthless, that's why the our frame rings are constructed of special alloys that won't expand or contract over time or due to temperature extremes-it's also why we back our filters with an 10 year warranty-because we engineer them to last.

Like all Polaroid optics, Polaroid filters are precision manufactured to the most demanding of tolerances. This ensures consistent high quality results even after years of use.

The internet is full of snobbish reviews of camera equipment. They tell you to spend £50 on filters which is ridiculous for most amateur photographers. I can understand avoiding the dirt cheap filters, but I simply could not afford an expensive one having just spent a small fortune on my new DSLR. That said it is important to protect the end of your lens, and cleaning a filter is a lot less nerve racking than the lens itself.

Looking through the various filters on Amazon I went for this because it was relatively cheap but still from a known brand – Polaroid. It is very well made, crystal clear, and I am delighted with it. After test shots with/without I really doubt you could tell the difference between this £8 UV and a £50 UV on an amateur lens (although there will always be a camera snob on hand to tell you otherwise).

Sure putting a £8 filter on a £1500 lens would be a bit silly, but for us day to day lens protection and UV filtering, trust me this will do.

Bought one of these (37mm) to protect the lens of my Leica D-Lux 6. I have several camera’s and always fit a UV filter as protection on all of them: a sensible practice brought home to me when I dropped my Fuji HS10 lens-first onto a cobbled path…the filter glass smashed and the metal rim distorted but the camera’s lens was saved from damage. I have bought several different makes over time and find the Polaroid as good as any, I really dont see the purpose in paying more. These do the job.

Bought for tamron 150-600 cos other hmc uvc filters astronomical price at 95mm.

Seems fine to me – its a piece of flat glass which everyone can make to 1/4 wave flatness.

AR coating seems fine ti me
