Reef One Biorb BiUbe Air Pump 12v

  • Safe Low Voltage
  • Virtually Silent
  • The air pump is designed to run as silently as possible
  • the air pump is essential to maintain water quality
Reef One BiOrb BiUbe Air Pump 12v The Baby biOrb Air Pump is a low voltage, safe air pump that provides the bubble supply that powers the filter system and assists with oxygen diffusion in the aquarium. It is essential the air pump is left running permanently. * Safe Low Voltage * Virtually Silent Reef One biUbe and biOrb aquariums incorporate two one way valves to prevent water draining back down the air line; however, it is safer to place the air pump above the level of the aquarium water line. The air pump is designed to run as silently as possible but due to its pumping action internal vibration will be transmitted as noise if the air pump body touches surrounding objects. As the air pump is essential to maintain water quality and runs continuously 24 hours a day, it is advisable to keep a spare in the event of failure.

This pump is very neat, looks good and does the job. Like any pump though, you need to put a bit of thought into where/how you position it and it can be noisy if it moves fom that ‘ideal spot’. Would be useful if it came with a wall mounting option. The first one we had broke for no obvious reason – on closer inspection it looked like it must have become waterlogged during a power cut, as we couldn’t position it above water level. Another thing to watch out for is the potential for the air tube to slip off due to vibration – I check it regularly, as that could drain the tank….

It does what it needs to do and does it pretty well, 18 Mar. 2011

When my first Biorb pump broke after a few years of use I was annoyed and replaced it with a more expensive brand. wasn’t as quiet and didn’t lasted any longer.

I’ve switched back to this one and it’s sufficiently cheap that I order two so that I’ve got a spare ready to go when the day comes

Whatever make you buy they do wear out and need replaced. If they start to get noisy then it might be worth tightening up the screws.

An advantage with this one is that because it has a seperate power supply dropping the voltage before it gets to the box you can feel more confident about taking the cover off and tighten things up internally without worrying.

But the quieten down this or any other pump is to hang it by string or even elastic band from a hook

Very noisy, have had to purchase another pump, which is very annoying when the Biorb tank comes with all the equipment required.
